Yesterday, the final ballots were counted and the Federal Election is officially over. This year, Canada voted for change. Canada's new Prime Minister is Justin Trudeau of the Liberals. The Canadian Liberal Party won the election with a majority government claiming a surprising 184 seats. The Official Opposition will be the Conservative party with 99 elected seats. The New Democratic Party saw a decrease in the number of seats, ending the evening with only 44 elected seats in the House of Commons. Across Canada, the nearly 900,000 students who cast their vote in Student Vote 1015 were relatively consistent with the results in the official election, with the Liberals winning even more seats - 223!
