The students were divided into two groups: one representing a family that will stay at their home, and one representing a family that will have to evacuate or leave their home,

Each group had to pack a large rubber tote with all of the emergency materials that would be required for 72 hours (3 days) that they then presented to the rest of the class.
Important items to remember:
  • important papers
  • extra sets of keys (house, car)
  • hand operated can openers
  • hand crank flashlights
  • medication
  • toilet paper
  • water
  • dog food, and bowls, leashes
  • food (dry goods, canned goods)
  • clothing for each family member
Do you have an emergency preparedness plan and list of important materials that you will need?
