You may have heard your children talking about coding, Scratch or CS-First and wondered what they were talking about.
Scratch is a program that is designed for young students to learn how to do basic computer programming, or coding. CS-First is the platform that teaches the students the basic skills involved in coding. This is done through short videos that the students watch, and then try the skill themselves. There are a wide variety of starter projects that the students choose from to remix and practice their developing skills.
The module that the students started working in first is called Storytelling, where each of the students has been working to create their own story through using various characters (called sprites), various backgrounds, and solving the problem.
Have you tried Scratch before? What was your experience like? We'd love to hear about what you think!
Stay tuned to see some of their final storytelling products! I can't wait!
